About the Artist

This is me, Joyce Furness. Lover of paint-brushes, paints, canvas and all other things creative.

Refugee from southern Ontario.  Now living and working in Powell River, a couple of ferry rides north of Vancouver.  

A few more miles on me since Art College days in the 1960’s when I was Joyce Purton.  But still me.  Today the kids are grown and my time is my own.

For the first time in my life I'm painting on a regular basis and am fully immersed in the whole creative process. I am amazed at the transitions I see taking place in my work.

Somehow all my life experiences - the whole array of memories tucked away in the back of my mind - are tumbling out onto the canvas. As you can tell, I'm in my element and loving it.
